Bad Translations in Prophecy

by Bill Weather 6000thyear.comprophecybase.com

Often theologians are teaching rules of interpretation of scripture, giving sound advice on what we call “exegesis.” With good “exegesis”, or interpretation of scripture, we are using the rules of following the authors intent, to their original audience, context in light of history and culture, and with the larger body of work, as well as other rules of sound interpretation.

Two of these rules theologians are often weak on, is historical context and translation in light of prophecy and how records of history have fulfilled prophecy.

Below, I attempt to clear up the mistranslations in light of the historical context of prophecy fulfilled, which most teachers of prophecy are in a low information status of, and are relegating all prophecy to a final seven year tribulation, which is a mistake. 66ad.blogspot.com, clears up some of the globalism thinking errors of the Futurists from Matthew 24, but here, we are getting even more detailed in how the true intent of the prophecy verses are proving the non global mind set, showing from the Greek lexicon at biblehub.com, the original intent of prophecy.

The mind set of today’s theologians is that our English bibles are so accurate, that we do not need Greek Lexicons to study from. That is a mistake and there are obvious mistranslation errors when it comes to prophecy, as shown below.

-----------------------------------------------------

Luke 21:23 – Alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days. For great distress shall be upon the earth and wrath upon this people.

The word earth used here does not mean globally, but its intent is a regional outlook.

For great distress shall be upon the land and wrath upon this people”, should be the true rendering. The people Jesus is referring to here are Judeans whose land the Romans will soon persecute, which was never an intent of interpretating as global.

This same word is used in the following verses

Luke 21:25 And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars and upon the earth land , distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and waves...

Luke 21:35 – for it will come upon all who dwell upon the face of the whole earth land.

Revelation 13:3 And the whole earth land wondered after the beast

The word "earth" or "world" in verse 3 is more often translated "land", contrary to the one world government idea. By this, we should not think the beast of Rev 13 is some form of a global government, like in today’s mind set, but just regional, or the Roman world, or the known world.

Rev 13:8 reveals this truth even more.

And all that dwell on the earth land shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of the life of the Lamb, slain from the foundations of the world  (global).

The word earth and world in this verse are two different words with different meanings. Slain from the foundations of the world, is #2889 in the Greek lexicon, kosmos, and is used in a global sense, where as the word earth is #1093, ges (shown above), and  is used more so as  "land" or in a regional sense.

This misunderstanding of pinning Revelation 13 as a global one world government has made almost all prophecy teachers stumble in trying to discover the Revelation timeline.

Other Mistranslations

In Daniel 9:24, Hebrew Lexicon #2403 says the word for "sin" can also be "sin offering," the thought being that there's no such thing as the "end of sins" completely, like the Futurists think, unless God eliminates free will and God never does that.

This eliminates the Futurist idea that the 70th week of Daniel still needs to fulfill. The sin offerings had ended upon the crucifixion.

Matthew 24:31 - And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, to gather his elect…

Verse 31 translated angel, is sometimes translated messenger, the argument being that he would send forth his messengers to gather his elect outside of Jerusalem when they fled to the mountains of Pella to escape the Jerusalem destruction and troubles throughout Judea.

An error is shown in Futurists thinking angels are needed to carry us away in the Resurrection. With millions of believers throughout the 2000 year history of the church being resurrected, is an angel going to be needed to carry each and everyone of us away in the air at the Resurrection or is God just going to give us the natural ability to ascend all at once? Common sense says angels will not be needed to carry each and every believer away, so the idea here, by the Futurists and Preterists, that this is some how a Resurrection, does not match the rest of the context of the chapter and is more thoroughly shown at 66ad.blogspot.com.

Matthew 24:3 is a mistranslation in some versions of the Bible.

... Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

This should have been translated end of the age, not end of the worldMany versions already translate it as end of the age.

It was the end of that age, not of our age.

Rev 3:10 – Because you have kept my command to persevere, I will also keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world (inhabited world), to test those who dwell on the earth (ges=land).

The word world here is not in a global sense, but it’s intent was the whole Roman world or known world. The world they were describing was in no way global, but only meant as all the known world.

Matthew 24:14 – And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then the end (for Jerusalem) shall come.

This same Greek word world is also used here, meaning all the known world or the Roman world.

Luke 21:28 Now when you see these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads because your redemption (deliverance) is drawing near.

At first appearance, the word redemption appears to support a Resurrection in this verse, but that would contradict many other sound exegesis points made. This word can also be translated “deliverance.”

Luke 21:28 Now when you see these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads because your deliverance is drawing near.

That deliverance was the Sign of the Son of man as recorded by the historians at 66ad.blogspot.com, the deliverance from the death that would come to Judea and Jerusalem at that time. This was in the context of Jerusalem’s destruction, not in the context of a resurrection.

Because Futurism has taken over the mind set of today’s Christians, their zeal has blinded them from doing the deeper research. Their contradictions in prophecy, ignorance of history, and the sway of what is popular, has been ruling their thoughts for decades and most Pastors don’t even make the time to do the research. Because of this, Christendom is left bankrupt in understanding and contradiction and confusion is causing many people to no longer desire to know prophecy, but for the few who research the links herein, a vast treasure of incredible all in sync timeline to Revelation that makes sense with the rest of scripture, is here for the taking.
